Procedures for Ukrainian Evacuees to enter Japan with their pets (dogs and cats)

Step 1

Implant an “ISO-standard microchip” under the skin of your dog or cat.
犬・猫の皮下に、「ISO 規格のマイクロチップ」を埋め込みます。

Step 2

File out a “notification form for import” and send it in advance to the airport for your entry by e-mail. Our firm can conduct this procedure on behalf of you.
「輸入に関する届出書」を記入して、事前に入国予定の空港へメールで送付しておく。当事務所が代行することも可。

Step 3

Receive a “confirmation of notification” from the above airport. Our firm can conduct this procedure on behalf of you.
空港からメールで「届出受理書」を受け取る。当事務所が代行することも可。

Step 4

Visit Japan and undergo an import inspection of your dog or cat.
来日して、犬・猫は輸入検査を受ける。

Step 5

The retention period (period required for the inspection) of dogs or cats meeting the requirements and arriving in Japan will be 12 hours or less (If no problem is found in the inspection, the normal retention period will be several hours.)

If your dog or cat does not meet the requirements, it is required to undergo a retention inspection (180 days at a maximum) at the retention facility of the animal quarantine station. As a result of the inspection, the import may not be permitted, as the case may be.
条件を満たして日本に到着した犬・猫の係留期間（輸入検査にかかる期間）は、１２時間以内です（輸入検査で問題がない場合、通常は数時間で終了します）。

条件を満たしていない犬・猫は、動物検疫所の係留施設で係留検査（最長１８０日間）を受けることになります。また、検査の結果、輸入が認められないことがあります。

(Note) The case where a dog or cat does not meet the requirements includes the case where the number of the microchip cannot be read in the import inspection after its arrival in Japan, the case where the number of the microchip cannot be checked with a certificate issued by the competent authority of the exporting country or, in regard to a dog, the case where a certificate of injection of rabies vaccine does not exist or the case where the rabies vaccination status does not meet the requirements.

※条件を満たしていない場合とは、日本到着後の輸入検査でマイクロチップ番号が読み取れない場合や、マイクロチップ番号が輸出国政府機関発行の証明書と照合できない場合や、犬の場合は、この他に狂犬病予防注射の接種証明書の有無や、接種状況などによります。
