The Immigration Services Agency has announced a new system proposal to allow foreign nationals, known as "Digital Nomads," who work remotely utilizing IT and can choose their working country and location, to engage in long-term activities in Japan under a designated activity residence status, allowing for a stay of up to six months, based on certain criteria. The aim is to attract talented foreign professionals to Japan, contributing to regional consumption expansion. They plan to revise relevant ministerial ordinances and notifications by the end of March and initiate the operation of the system.
